Turkey corporate merch comparison — method, material and supplier selection guides
The comparison questions international procurement teams ask most often when placing corporate merch orders in Turkey, all in one place. Printing methods (silk-screen, DTG, DTF, embroidery, sublimation, UV print, laser engraving), material choices (cotton, polyester, blend, performance fabric, bamboo, canvas) and supplier-type comparison (local atelier, mid-tier, large serial producer, export-oriented) — evaluated side by side on cost, MOQ, lead time, durability, visual quality, sustainability, and VAT/e-Invoice impact. Quoted in TRY, VAT 20% included, integrated with e-Invoice (e-Fatura).
Scope of comparison and evaluation framework
Placing a corporate merch order in Turkey involves three critical decision axes: printing method, material and supplier type. These axes are interconnected — the choice on one directly affects the others. DTG requires cotton or high-cotton blends; polyester does not accept DTG, so sublimation or DTF is preferred. Small MOQ (50-100 units) favors a local atelier, while 5,000+ units unlock scale economics at a serial producer or exporter. This page evaluates the three axes against a six-column framework: cost (VAT-inclusive TRY), MOQ (minimum order quantity), lead time (sampling + production + shipment), durability (wash count, print adhesion), visual quality (Pantone match, detail sharpness), and sustainability (certification chain, carbon footprint).
Turkey’s standard VAT rate on corporate merch programs is 20%. Customers registered for e-Fatura receive invoices via direct GİB (Gelir İdaresi Başkanlığı) integration; e-Arşiv customers receive e-Arşiv invoices. International clients can be invoiced in EUR/USD; in that case VAT does not apply and VAT recovery is handled in the client’s own country. Standard payment terms are 50% on order confirmation and 50% before shipment; corporate clients can be extended 30-day credit. Compliance frameworks for banks (Garanti, Yapı Kredi, İş Bankası, Akbank, QNB Finansbank), aviation (THY, Pegasus, SunExpress) and healthcare are confirmed before order placement.
Printing method comparison
The printing method is the first decision that directly determines the cost and quality outcome of an order. The seven methods below are widely used in Turkey’s corporate merch programs.
1. Silk-screen (serigraphy)
Silk-screen is the backbone of Turkey’s corporate merch production. Working principle: a separate stencil is prepared for each color (positive film, emulsion coating, UV exposure), and ink is pressed through onto the fabric. Advantages: low unit cost at higher volumes, vivid and opaque colors, broad material compatibility (cotton, polyester, blend, canvas, non-woven), high durability (print stays vivid past 50+ washes). Disadvantages: extra stencil cost per color (200-400 TRY each), loss of photographic detail, unit cost rises at very small MOQ (below 50 units). The most common variant in Turkish corporate orders: 1-3 color flat print (logo + tagline), 100-5,000 unit range. MOQ 25-50, lead time 5-8 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a basic t-shirt 35-90 TRY.
2. DTG (Direct-to-Garment)
DTG uses a digital print head that sprays ink directly onto the fabric. Advantages: photographic detail, unlimited colors, small-MOQ support, fast sampling, wide Pantone gamut. Disadvantages: works only on high-cotton fabrics (cannot be applied to polyester or performance fabric), requires pre-treatment, higher unit cost vs silk-screen at high volumes, white ink is partially translucent (dark fabric needs underbase white). Turkey’s DTG lines are concentrated in Istanbul’s Asian side ateliers and boutique production facilities in Bursa. MOQ 1-50, lead time 4-7 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a basic t-shirt 180-450 TRY.
3. DTF (Direct-to-Film)
DTF is a transfer printing method that has spread rapidly in Turkey over the last three years. The image is printed on PET film, adhesive powder is applied, and the film is heat-pressed onto the fabric. Advantages: works on cotton, polyester, blend, canvas, denim and even leather; photographic detail; vivid colors; small MOQ; relatively fast production. Disadvantages: single-use film, film trace on fine detail, higher tear risk vs silk-screen past 50+ washes, cost approaches silk-screen at high volumes but does not cross it. DTF lines are common at serial producers in Gaziantep, Kayseri and Konya. MOQ 25, lead time 4-6 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a basic t-shirt 65-150 TRY.
4. Embroidery
Embroidery is thread stitched onto fabric. Advantages: outstanding durability (lasts past 100 washes), premium perception, texture and depth, best results on polar and fleece fabric, the most suitable visual effect for corporate identity. Disadvantages: detail limit (fine lines and small typefaces are problematic), higher unit cost, thread-catalogue color limit, heaviness and fabric deformation on large areas. Embroidery lines are common in Istanbul Merter, İkitelli and İstoç; in the textile centers of Bursa and Denizli. MOQ 25-50, lead time 6-10 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost for a small logo on a polo 90-220 TRY.
5. Sublimation
Sublimation is color transfer using ink gas on polyester or high-polyester blend fabrics. Advantages: unlimited colors at photographic quality, soft touch (print sits inside the fabric), no fade on washing, all-over print capacity, ideal for lightweight and sports fabrics. Disadvantages: works only on polyester or specially coated fabrics, cannot be applied to natural cotton, requires white or light-colored fabric (insufficient on dark fabric). Sublimation lines in Turkey are concentrated at performance-textile producers in Istanbul, Bursa and İzmir. MOQ 50-100, lead time 5-8 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a sports t-shirt 120-280 TRY.
6. UV print
UV print is digital printing with UV-cured ink on hard surfaces (plastic, metal, wood, acrylic, leather, glass). Advantages: photographic quality on hard products, detailed logo application, small MOQ support, fast production, water and scratch resistance. Disadvantages: works only on hard surfaces (cannot be applied to fabric), UV ink forms a thin layer on the surface, crack risk on some flexible materials. UV print lines in Turkey are used in USB drives, powerbanks, hard-cover notebooks, hard cases, thermos bottles, water bottles, badges and metal accessories. MOQ 25-100, lead time 4-7 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a powerbank 25-65 TRY.
7. Laser engraving
Laser engraving uses CO2 or fiber laser to mark logos and text onto metal, wood, leather, glass, acrylic and certain hard plastics. Advantages: permanent mark (cannot be erased, does not fade), premium and sophisticated look, no ink or coating required, environmentally friendly (no consumables), high detail precision. Disadvantages: works only on hard surfaces, color change on the material surface is limited (laser tone is light on metal, dark on wood), each material-laser combination produces different results, slows on large areas. Laser engraving lines in Turkey are common at boutique production facilities in Istanbul’s Asian side and metal-processing centers in Gaziantep. MOQ 25, lead time 4-6 business days, VAT-inclusive unit cost on a metal water bottle 18-45 TRY.
Material comparison
Material selection directly affects perceived quality, durability, sustainability profile and unit cost of the merch product.
1. Cotton
Cotton is the most classic and widespread material for corporate merch. Turkey is among the world’s largest cotton producers; Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Aydın and İzmir are the main centers. Advantages: natural and hypoallergenic, soft touch, breathable, compatible with all printing methods, easy access to GOTS and BCI organic certifications. Disadvantages: shrink risk (especially on first wash), wrinkle tendency, slower drying vs polyester and blends, fade risk on dark colors. For Turkish corporate customers standard quality is 180-200 g/m² combed cotton; premium segment 220-260 g/m² ring-spun cotton; ultra-premium 280+ g/m² Pima cotton or Turkish organic yarn. Cost fluctuates 15-25% annually depending on raw-material price. For sustainability: GOTS-certified organic cotton, Fair Trade-certified cotton and Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton are available.
2. Polyester
Polyester is a synthetic fiber used in corporate merch where performance and durability are required. Turkey is an important center for polyester yarn production; integrated polyester facilities exist in Bursa, Gaziantep and Kayseri. Advantages: fast drying, wrinkle-free, no shrinkage, durable, vivid color retention, lightweight. Disadvantages: non-natural feel, sweat-trapping tendency at high intensity, low recycling perception, microplastic concern, color fade on long UV exposure. Standard quality for Turkish corporate customers 150-180 g/m² polyester; for performance segment 140-160 g/m² moisture-wicking; for recycled segment GRS-certified rPET (recycled polyester). Cost is lower than cotton; recycled variants are 10-25% more expensive.
3. Blend (polyester-cotton)
Blend fabrics combine the advantages of cotton and polyester. The most common variants are 50/50, 65/35 and 80/20 (polyester/cotton) ratios. Advantages: cotton feel with polyester durability, high shrinkage resistance, fast drying, ideal for uniforms and corporate polos, cost balance. Disadvantages: recycling difficulty (mixed fiber), limited access to certain organic certifications, comfort drops as polyester weight increases in hot climates. For Turkish corporate customers, 65/35 and 80/20 variants are common in uniforms, polos and workwear programs.
4. Performance fabric (spandex, moisture-wicking)
Performance fabrics are designed for sports, events, outdoor and high-mobility corporate programs. Typical composition: 92-95% polyester + 5-8% spandex/elastane; in some variants 100% polyester with moisture-wicking coating. Advantages: high mobility, fast drying, sweat absorption and distribution, lightweight, UV resistance (UPF 30-50+). Disadvantages: no cotton feel, limited printing options (DTG cannot be applied; sublimation is ideal), high cost, far from classic corporate look. Suitable for sports events, marathons, outdoor activations, field teams (construction, field sales, logistics).
5. Bamboo
Bamboo fiber is used in hard products such as hard-cover notebooks, pens, USB drives, coasters, cutlery sets, hard cases and packaging. Advantages: fast renewable source (harvest in 3-5 years), FSC certification widespread, natural and modern look, lightweight, odorless, recyclable. Disadvantages: in bamboo fabric, durability is lower than cotton, production capacity in Turkey is limited (mostly imported), high cost. Widespread in hard-product segment; niche in bamboo fabric.
6. Canvas
Canvas is a densely woven durable fabric used in bags, backpacks, tote bags and aprons. Advantages: high durability (cargo, travel, daily use), natural look, compatible with all printing methods, access to GOTS and BCI certifications, premium perception on natural cotton-based variants. Disadvantages: weight (especially on thick canvas bags), high gram weight drives cargo cost, water absorption tendency (without water-repellent coating). For Turkish corporate customers, 12-16 oz canvas tote bags, 16-20 oz canvas backpacks and 10-14 oz canvas aprons are common variants.
Supplier type comparison
Supplier selection directly affects the order’s economic structure, quality control, lead time and scalability. Turkey’s corporate merch suppliers fall into four main categories.
1. Local atelier (Istanbul İkitelli, Merter, İstoç)
These districts are centers where small and mid-scale textile ateliers concentrate. Generally they work with teams of 10-50; their specialties are silk-screen, DTG, DTF and small embroidery batches. Advantages: low MOQ (25-50 units), fast lead time (4-7 business days), flexible production planning, close distance (express on-site delivery), personal communication, fast revision. Disadvantages: capacity limit, limited certification chain (most lack GOTS/GRS), quality-control standardization, limited export experience. Ideal for 50-500 unit range, fast sampling and small-batch programs.
2. Mid-tier producer (Bursa, Gaziantep, Denizli)
These cities are Turkey’s integrated textile production centers. Generally they work with teams of 100-500 and offer complete production lines (yarn, weaving, dyeing, printing, sewing). Advantages: mid-MOQ (100-500 units), balanced lead time (7-14 business days), scale economics, quality-control standardization, export experience, GOTS/GRS/OEKO-TEX certification chains, specialized machine park (sublimation, automatic embroidery). Disadvantages: limited small-MOQ support, no on-site delivery since outside Istanbul, longer sampling. Ideal for 500-5,000 unit range, corporate uniforms, dealer kits and special-edition programs.
3. Large serial producer (Istanbul Asian side, Konya)
Facilities in Istanbul’s Asian side (Tuzla, Pendik, Gebze corridor) and Konya are large integrated plants running high-volume corporate production. Generally they operate with 1,000+ employees. Advantages: high MOQ (1,000+ units), lowest unit cost, fully automated lines, quality-control laboratory, international certification chain (GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX, Fair Trade, BCI), export experience (EU, Middle East, Turkic Republics). Disadvantages: does not accept small MOQ, 2-4 week lead time, sampling runs on a separate line, contract and deposit expectation before order. Ideal for 5,000+ unit range, campaigns and dealer kits.
4. Export-oriented producer (İzmir, Aegean Region)
The İzmir and Aegean region is Turkey’s export-oriented textile production center. Generally they operate with 500-2,000 employees and export to EU, US, Middle East and Turkic Republics. Advantages: highest MOQ (10,000+ units), A.TR and EUR.1 certificate-of-origin preparation capacity, exporter-union registration, international logistics experience (Yurtiçi, Aras, MNG, Sürat, DHL, FedEx), direct shipment to European customers, foreign-currency invoicing. Disadvantages: does not accept small or mid-MOQ, 3-6 week lead time, sampling process includes international shipment. Ideal for international campaigns and global dealer programs.

Cost drivers
Four main cost items determine unit pricing of corporate merch in Turkey: raw material, labor, printing and logistics.
Raw material
Raw-material prices fluctuate on global markets through cotton (New York Cotton Futures), polyester (PET resin) and side chemicals (dyes, finishing agents). Between 2024-2026 cotton prices fluctuated 15-25% on a USD basis; polyester moved in a wider range depending on energy prices. TRY-based cost carries an additional fluctuation layer on top of FX moves. To control raw-material cost: forward-pricing contracts for large batches (especially for 10,000+ unit campaigns), or sustainable premium on organic/recycled material — GOTS organic cotton is 10-20% more expensive than standard cotton but adds value for ESG reporting.
Labor
Labor cost varies by production facility location and automation level. Small ateliers in Istanbul İkitelli, Merter and İstoç pay 250-450 TRY/hour (2026 average); mid-tier facilities in Bursa, Gaziantep and Denizli 200-350 TRY; large facilities in Istanbul Asian side and Konya 220-380 TRY; export-oriented facilities in İzmir and the Aegean 230-400 TRY. Minimum wage and SGK premium are updated annually. Highly automated facilities offer cost advantages (full-auto cutting, automatic embroidery, digital print lines).
Printing and branding
Silk-screen stencil cost per color 200-400 TRY; embroidery programming and hoop setup 150-300 TRY; DTG and DTF have low setup (no stencil cost); UV print and laser engraving have per-color or per-unit extras. Unit cost drops dramatically at higher volumes: 1,000 units of 2-color silk-screen t-shirt printing runs 8-15 TRY per unit; the same job at 50 units runs 35-75 TRY per unit. Most cost-efficient scenario for corporate customers: 500+ units, 1-2 color silk-screen or embroidery.
Logistics
Istanbul intra-city on-site delivery 250-650 TRY; Istanbul-Ankara road 60-120 TRY for 1-3 desi/kg; Istanbul-İzmir 80-150 TRY; Istanbul-Antalya 100-180 TRY; international (DHL, FedEx, UPS) varies by weight. Bulk shipments (pallet, container) cut unit cost dramatically but require minimum pallet load (typically 500-1,000 kg).
VAT and tax impact
Standard VAT 20%. e-Fatura-registered customers receive direct GİB-integrated invoices; e-Arşiv customers receive e-Arşiv invoices. For export orders, A.TR (Turkey-EU Customs Union), EUR.1 (Turkey-EU Preferential Origin), certificate of origin and DIIB (Inward Processing Authorization Certificate) are prepared and grant customs-duty exemption. Exporter-union-registered producers can use Eximbank credit insurance.
FX fluctuation
TRY/EUR and TRY/USD parities fluctuated significantly between 2024-2026 for international clients. FX risk control methods: (1) quote in EUR/USD, (2) forward pricing, (3) short-term payment, (4) work with local supplier in local currency. Both TRY and EUR/USD scenarios are evaluated for accounting planning.
Lead time drivers
For Turkey’s corporate merch programs, lead time splits into three categories: sampling, serial production, and shipment.
Sampling
Typical cycle: artwork and mockup approval (1-2 days), sample production (3-7 days), shipment to customer (Istanbul intra-city 1 day, Turkey-wide 2-3 days, international 3-5 days), customer approval and revision (additional 3-7 days if any). Standard sample delivery Istanbul intra-city 5-10 business days, Turkey-wide 7-14, international 10-21. Corporate customers typically run 2-3 sample rounds. Sample cost is 2-5x the serial production unit cost; deducted from the order total on serial-production approval.
Serial production
Standard serial-production times: 50-500 units 5-7 business days; 500-2,000 units 7-14; 2,000-5,000 units 14-21; 5,000-20,000 units 21-35; 20,000+ units 35-60. These depend on atelier load, machine park status, material procurement and quality-control processes.
Atelier load and seasonal effect
Peak periods are September-November (autumn fairs, back-to-school, corporate campaign kickoff) and March-May (spring fairs, new-year campaigns). During these periods serial-production capacity runs at 100%+; new orders see lead time extended by 20-50%. Lowest-load periods are December-February (except year-end) and June-August (summer break, export season); lead time can shorten 10-20%. Year-end window (mid-December to early January) is a special slot; for year-end gift production orders should be placed in September-October.
Shipment
Istanbul intra-city express or next-day (courier, van); Istanbul-Ankara 1-2 business days (Yurtiçi, Aras, MNG, Sürat); Istanbul-İzmir 1-2; Istanbul-Antalya 1-3; international (DHL Express) 3-5 business days; (DHL Economy, FedEx Economy) 5-10; sea 2-4 weeks. Standard speed for corporate customers: domestic 24-48 hours, international express 3-5 business days.
Customs and import-export
Inter-EU shipments (including Turkey) are generally customs-free or fast-tracked (2-5 days extra); third-country shipments require customs declaration, certificate of origin and tax payment (5-15 days extra). A.TR, EUR.1 and certificate of origin grant customs-duty exemption. Exporter-union-registered producers can use Eximbank credit insurance.
Sustainability and export
Sustainability has become mandatory in corporate merch sourcing in 2026. Banks (BDDK reporting), holding companies (KAP sustainability reports) and international clients (CSRD, ESG due diligence) require documented commitments.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
The world-leading certification for organic textile production. Scope: organic cotton and blends, production process (chemicals, water, energy), social compliance (ILO standards), traceability (chain-of-custody). Turkey has 200+ GOTS-certified facilities (2026); main centers Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul and İzmir. Used in organic cotton and blend production; minimum order typically 500+ units.
GRS (Global Recycled Standard)
The standard for traceability and environmental/social compliance of recycled fibers (rPET, recycled cotton). Turkey has 100+ GRS-certified facilities; main centers Istanbul Asian side and Bursa.
OEKO-TEX 100
Harmful-substance testing for textile and non-textile products. Scope: heavy metals, formaldehyde, pesticides, dyes. Turkey has 1,000+ OEKO-TEX-certified facilities; common across all major producers. Accepted as standard quality-control requirement; advanced level Standard 100 class 1 (baby products) is available.
Fair Trade
Social compliance and fair-trade standard. Scope: working conditions, fair wage, community development. Fair-Trade-certified cotton production in Turkey is limited. Niche option for CSR reporting.
Carbon footprint and GHG reporting
Measurement of greenhouse gases emitted over the product lifecycle (raw material, production, logistics, use, disposal). Corporate customers can request per-SKU carbon-footprint reporting for the order, prepared to GHG Protocol or ISO 14067 standards. Has become mandatory at large exporter facilities (especially for European customers).
Export documents
Three main documents are required. A.TR: under the Turkey-EU Customs Union, grants customs-duty exemption for exports to EU member states. EUR.1: under the Turkey-EU Preferential Origin agreement, applies preferential tariff for exports to EU member states. Certificate of origin: for exports to third countries (US, Russia, China) shows the country of origin of the product. Exporter-union-registered producers can use Eximbank credit insurance, Turquality support program and international marketing support.
Plastic packaging tax
Plastic packaging tax has been applied since 2021. Per-kg tax applies on nylon bags, shrink film and blister. FSC-certified paper, recycled cardboard and biodegradable packaging are preferred; ÇEVKO or similar licensed organizations handle packaging-waste management.

Frequently asked questions on Turkey corporate merch comparisons
What criteria should I look at when choosing a printing method?
Five key criteria: (1) material compatibility (silk-screen/DTG/DTF for cotton, sublimation/DTF for polyester, UV print/laser for hard surfaces), (2) volume level (DTG or DTF for low MOQ, silk-screen or embroidery for high volume), (3) visual detail level (DTG or sublimation for photographic quality, silk-screen or embroidery for flat logos), (4) durability expectation (embroidery for maximum durability), (5) cost (silk-screen for lowest unit cost, embroidery/laser for premium perception). Evaluating all five together and then moving to material and supplier type ensures a healthy decision process.
Should I choose cotton, polyester or blend for material?
It depends on the use scenario. Cotton: classic corporate look, daily office use, organic/sustainable programs. Polyester: performance, sports events, outdoors, fast drying, durability. Blend: uniform, corporate polo, workwear, cost-durability balance. For high mobility or hot climate, polyester or performance fabric; for classic corporate look, cotton; for versatile programs, blend.
Why is exporter-union registration important when choosing a supplier type?
Exporter-union registration shows that the producer holds an official export license. This registration enables preparation of customs documents such as A.TR, EUR.1 and certificate of origin, use of Eximbank credit insurance, access to Turquality and international marketing support, and direct invoicing to international clients (EUR/USD). For Turkish corporate companies selling to international clients, working with an exporter-union-registered producer speeds up the customs process and provides tax advantages.
How does VAT and e-Invoice work?
Standard VAT is 20%. e-Fatura-registered customers receive direct GİB-integrated invoices; e-Arşiv customers receive e-Arşiv invoices. EUR/USD invoicing is available for international clients; in that case VAT does not apply. Standard payment terms are 50% on order confirmation, 50% before shipment; 30-day credit is available for corporate customers.
Is Corp-Merch an official partner of any event, fair or corporate program?
No. Corp-Merch is an independent external merch supplier. It does not organize, sponsor, represent or establish official partnership with any event, fair, corporate program or brand; instead it runs production, kitting, cargo and delivery processes for the merch programs of corporate customers in Turkey. All brand, event and institution names on this page are the registered trademarks of their respective owners; used only for context reference.
