Lanyards for the logistics sector (Cyprus)
Port-access lanyards, depot ID lanyards and hi-vis safety lanyards for Cyprus 3PLs, courier fleets and freight forwarders. MOQ 100 units, 7–10 business days, quotes in EUR.
Why logistics operators need hard-wearing lanyards
The Limassol port container terminal and the Larnaca port complex require every worker on the dock to wear a visible photo ID with port-access credentials — a hi-vis safety lanyard with a metal lobster clip and a 3-point breakaway is the standard. A 3PL with 250 warehouse pickers and 80 drivers issues a depot-level lanyard with the operator's name, the access level and a route number on the rear. A courier franchise (ACS, EMS, Skynet, PrimeCare) issues a depot-level lanyard to every rider plus a separate hi-vis lanyard with reflective tape that carries the route number and shift code. The lanyard has to survive rain, hand-sanitiser, sweat, and 12 hours in a rider's jacket pocket.
Models and materials that fit
The workhorse for port-access lanyards is the Toppoint 2850 in fluorescent yellow-orange polyester, 20 mm wide, with EN ISO 20471-class 2 reflective tape sewn into both edges, a 3-point safety breakaway, a metal lobster clip and a 35 mm ribbon split ring. For depot ID lanyards we move to the Toppoint 2820 in 20 mm standard polyester with a safety breakaway and a metal lobster clip. For depot recognition and driver-appreciation kits we run the Toppoint 2840 in woven damask with a sewn-in metallic thread operator logo and a leather-look clip — the heavier weight reads as premium at the depot dinner.
Prints and branding approaches
Dye-sublimation print is the standard for full-colour operator logos and route numbers — the print hits 1200 dpi and survives 30+ wash cycles without fading. For port-access lanyards the operator logo goes on the front in two Pantone-matched colours, the access level on the rear. Two-colour sublimation is €0.18 per lanyard. For hi-vis safety lanyards the print goes on a 15 mm reflective tape sewn into both edges of the lanyard — reflective tape is a €0.85 per lanyard upgrade. Woven damask for depot recognition kits carries fine detail (small text, multiple colours) — €0.45 per lanyard over the dye-sublimation baseline. We never use screen print on a lanyard because the ink cracks at the chest flex point after 6 months.
Bundling and packaging
Port-access lanyards are issued in person at the Limassol port security office — we ship the encoded lanyards in tamper-evident pouches, one per operator, with a serial-numbered chain-of-custody sheet. Depot ID lanyards ship in perforated sheets of 10 per A4 for easy distribution by the depot supervisor. Hi-vis rider lanyards ship in packs of 25 per transparent polybag with a printed route-group insert card.
Runs, lead times, and budgets
MOQ is 100 units for the Toppoint 2820 depot lanyard, 100 for the 2850 hi-vis port-access lanyard and 100 for the 2840 woven VIP depot recognition kit. Lead time is 7 business days for the 2820, 10 business days for the 2850 hi-vis with reflective tape, and 14 business days for the 2840 woven VIP tier. Budget band: €0.95–€1.65 per unit at 100 units for the 2820, dropping to €0.65 at 500; €2.20–€3.40 for the 2850 hi-vis; €2.40–€3.80 for the 2840. Quotes are EUR net, VAT 19% added for Cyprus-registered logistics operators.
Cyprus context
The Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) mandate applies to every worker on the Limassol port container terminal and the Larnaca port complex — that is roughly 4,500 lanyards in active circulation across the operators (DP World Limassol, P&O, Eurogate, Cyprus Shipping Association members). The free-zone operators in Limassol run separate lanyards because the free zone is a customs-bonded area with its own badge issuance. The courier depot network (ACS, EMS, Skynet, PrimeCare) typically orders hi-vis lanyards twice a year — once at the spring depot reset (March) and once at the autumn depot reset (September) to align with rider cohort changes.
Frequently asked questions
Which lanyard passes the Cyprus Ports Authority access requirement at the Limassol terminal?
The Toppoint 2850 in fluorescent yellow-orange polyester with EN ISO 20471-class 2 reflective tape sewn into both edges. The reflective tape is the difference — a plain polyester lanyard without reflective tape is rejected at the gate for night-shift workers. We have run 800-piece port-access lanyard orders for two Limassol-port operators on the same SKU and the gate-rejection rate has been zero since we adopted the reflective tape.
Can you encode MIFARE chips for port access?
Yes — the Toppoint 2850 carries an embedded MIFARE DESFire EV2 4K chip at the 35 mm ribbon split ring, encoded with the operator's access credentials. Encoding takes 60 seconds per lanyard and is the bottleneck for large orders; a 500-piece order runs at 10 business days with a parallel encoding rig. Operators send the access data as a CSV and we ship the encoded lanyards back in numerical order with a tamper-evident chain-of-custody sheet.
Do you supply hi-vis lanyards that survive 18 months of courier duty?
Yes — the Toppoint 2850 in fluorescent yellow-orange polyester with EN ISO 20471-class 2 reflective tape. The base polyester is rated to -10°C to +60°C, the reflective tape is sewn-on (not printed) for 50+ wash durability, and the 3-point breakaway is rated to 5 kg of force. We have run rider-lanyard cycles for two Limassol courier depots and the breakage rate at 12 months is under 2%.
How fast can a 250-piece courier depot ID lanyard order turn around?
7 business days for the 2820 depot lanyard with MIFARE Classic 1K encoding and a printed route number. Submit the rider CSV by Day 0 and the order ships from Limassol by Day 7 — that meets the typical depot-reset timeline (a new rider cohort joining at the start of a shift block). We hold a 3-day rush lane for genuine depot emergencies; rush premium is +22%.
Can the lanyard be printed with the company safety slogan in Greek and English?
Yes — two-line dye-sublimation print in Pantone-matched ink, side-by-side Greek (e.g. ΑΣΦΑΛΕΙΑ — ΛΙΜΑΝΙ ΛΕΜΕΣΟΥ) and English (e.g. SAFETY — LIMASSOL PORT), is the standard for port-access lanyards. Two colours print at €0.18 per lanyard. Set-up is €45 per colour and is amortised across the run. Lead time adds 1 business day for two-language print over single-language.
Do you supply the badge holders and photo-ID cards alongside the lanyards?
We supply rigid PVC badge holders with a retractable reel as a €1.10 per-holder upgrade — the reel pulls to 80 cm and survives 12 months of depot duty. For port-access photo IDs we supply the Durable 1453-02 in 760 µm PVC with an embedded MIFARE DESFire EV2 4K chip and a holographic security overlay. We can bundle the lanyard + badge holder + photo-ID order on a single PO for an integrated delivery.
