Heat transfer vinyl for corporate merch in Türkiye
Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is the single-colour cut film pressed onto apparel with a heat press. This page covers the full film range — matte, gloss, metallic, reflective, fluorescent, glitter and specialty films — and how HTV compares to DTF and silkscreen on a corporate merch brief.
What heat transfer vinyl is and the film range we work with
Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is a thin, coloured film — usually 70-100 microns thick — that is cut on a computer-controlled plotter, weeded (the negative film peeled away) and pressed onto fabric with heat and pressure. Each colour in the design gets its own film layer; multi-colour designs are stacked in sequence on the garment.
The film range we stock covers the full HTV market: matte, gloss and semi-gloss for everyday corporate use; metallic gold, silver, copper, rose gold and holographic for premium accents; reflective films (3M Scotchlite-equivalent) for safety and hi-vis workwear; fluorescent films for runs, events and attention-grabbing signage; glitter films for fashion and youth-segment merchandise; specialty films including carbon-fibre-look, brushed-metal-look, printable HTV and textile HTV.
The canonical article on the basic CAD-cut method is at /en/pages/printing/cad-cut, which covers setup, artwork prep, application and care in detail. This page summarises the same process and points back to the canonical article for the substantive read, with extra depth on the specialty films that go beyond the basic CAD-cut offering.
Standard films: matte, gloss, semi-gloss
Standard HTV films come in matte, gloss and semi-gloss finishes. Matte is the default for corporate logos because it photographs without glare and reads as a clean professional mark. Gloss is used for athletic numerals, music and youth-segment logos, and any design that wants a shiny finish. Semi-gloss is the compromise choice for brands that want a slight sheen without a full gloss.
Standard HTV is the right answer for most single-colour corporate logos. The setup cost is essentially zero per design (the cut file is the only setup), the per-piece cost is competitive for runs of 1-200 pieces, and the wash durability is acceptable for most corporate uses.
For corporate apparel programs with multiple SKUs (a logo on a tee, a polo, a jacket, a cap, all in different sizes), we run the same cut file across the different garments in sequence. The cut file is reusable for as long as the design doesn't change, and we hold a cut-file library for repeat corporate clients.
Specialty films: metallic, reflective, fluorescent
Metallic films — gold, silver, copper, rose gold, holographic — are the right answer for premium gift apparel, VIP jackets, leadership apparel and limited-edition pieces. The metallic finish reads as a premium accent and is the standard for corporate logos that want maximum visual impact.
Reflective films are required for safety and hi-vis workwear. The film reflects light back to its source when illuminated at night, making the wearer visible to drivers and equipment operators. We stock 3M Scotchlite-equivalent reflective films in silver, lime and orange with the appropriate certifications for hi-vis workwear standards.
Fluorescent films — neon yellow, neon orange, neon pink, neon green — are used for runs, events, attention-grabbing signage and youth-segment merchandise. The fluorescent colour reads brighter than standard colours under daylight and is the right answer for any program where visibility is the goal.
Printable HTV and textile HTV
Printable HTV is a print-then-cut film that extends CAD-cut to full-colour logos. The film is printed on a solvent or eco-solvent printer with the artwork, then cut on a plotter to the design outline, weeded and pressed onto fabric. Printable HTV is the right answer for full-colour logos on small apparel runs where DTF economics don't quite fit.
Textile HTV is a thin, soft-hand film designed for apparel that sits close to the skin. It is the right answer for performance apparel, compression wear, athletic base layers and any program where the film hand-feel must be as soft as possible. Textile HTV has slightly lower wash durability than standard HTV but the hand-feel advantage is worth the trade-off for premium programs.
Printable HTV and textile HTV are both more expensive per piece than standard HTV. The cost premium is typically 30-80% per piece and is justified by the visual or hand-feel advantage. We test-print and test-press every new specialty film on a sample before committing a production run.
HTV versus DTF and silkscreen
HTV is most economical on runs of 1-200 pieces per design. Below 1, single pieces are routine HTV work. Above 200 pieces we usually suggest DTF for full-colour designs or silkscreen for spot-colour designs, because the per-piece HTV cost includes cutting, weeding and pressing labour that doesn't decrease as much with volume as DTF or silkscreen setup costs.
Versus DTF, HTV wins on single-colour designs and on programs that need metallic, reflective or fluorescent finishes. DTF wins on full-colour designs and on programs that need photographic detail or gradient reproduction. The crossover is typically around 4-6 colours: HTV for 1-4 colours, DTF for 5+ colours.
Versus silkscreen, HTV wins on runs below 100 pieces and on programs that need a film finish (metallic, reflective, fluorescent). Silkscreen wins on runs above 100 pieces with 1-4 spot colours where screen setup cost amortises favourably. The crossover is typically around 100 pieces for spot-colour designs.
Run sizes, lead times and unit economics
HTV is most economical on runs of 1-200 pieces per design. Above 200 pieces we usually suggest DTF or silkscreen for cost reasons. Lead time is short: express for in-stock film and simple one-colour jobs; 1-2 working days for multi-colour, multi-position jobs; 3-4 working days for premium films not in stock.
Personalised name shirts — one film colour, one name per garment — are our most common HTV job, with typical batches of 20-100 pieces completed in 1-2 working days. We hold stock of the most common corporate film colours (matte black, white, navy, red, royal blue) for same-day service on simple one-colour jobs.
For corporate buyers pricing out a program, the practical question is volume per design and the importance of film finish. If you need 500 identical polos with a four-colour logo, silkscreen or DTF wins on cost. If you need 100 polos each with a unique name and a metallic finish, HTV wins on both quality and setup cost.
Wash durability and care guidance
HTV, properly applied, survives 30-50 domestic wash cycles before edge lift begins. The keys are correct cure temperature (160°C for 15 seconds at medium pressure for standard HTV), even heat distribution, and waiting 24 hours before the first wash. We supply a care card with every HTV apparel order: wash inside out at 30-40°C, line dry, do not iron directly on the film.
For programs that need maximum wash durability — uniform programs, workwear, rental programs — HTV is rarely the right answer. Industrial laundering at 60-85°C will lift HTV faster than silkscreen, embroidery or DTF. We flag this at the brief stage and offer DTF or embroidery as the recommended alternatives for heavy-duty uniform programs.
Reflective and fluorescent films have shorter service lives than standard films under normal wash conditions. We recommend 30°C wash only for these specialty films and supply a care card with detailed guidance. The films are sourced from the same European manufacturers with consistent quality.
Where we run HTV in Türkiye
HTV cutting and pressing happens in our Levent studio, with overflow capacity in Başakşehir and İkitelli for large event-run batches. Films are stocked locally from Chemica, Poli-Tape and Siser warehouses in İstanbul; specialty films ship from European factories with 3-5 day lead times for non-stock colours.
Garment blanks come from the same Bursa, Kahramanmaraş and İzmir mills as our silkscreen apparel programs. For blank-and-print packages we consolidate the supply chain, which shortens the end-to-end lead time by 2-3 days compared to bringing customer-supplied garments.
For event shirts headed to Antalya, İstanbul or İzmir venues, we run a 24-hour in-house turnaround on simple one-colour jobs.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for HTV?
There is no minimum. Single pieces, name-personalised shirts and sample garments are routine HTV work. The method is at its cheapest on runs of 1-200 units; above that we usually suggest DTF or silkscreen.
How fast can an HTV order be completed?
Express for in-stock film and simple one-colour jobs. Multi-colour, multi-position jobs take 1-2 working days. Premium films not in stock add 3-4 working days for European warehouse delivery.
Which fabrics work with HTV?
Cotton, poly-cotton, polyester, softshell, fleece, performance knits and most flat-weave synthetics. Very lightweight knits below 150 GSM can feel stiff under the film and we usually suggest DTF in those cases.
Can HTV match a corporate Pantone colour?
Stock HTV films cover the most common corporate Pantone references. For brand-precise matches we order a custom dye-lot from the film supplier, which takes 5-7 working days.
Is HTV durable enough for uniforms?
HTV survives 30-50 domestic wash cycles. Industrial laundering shortens service life. For heavy-duty uniform programs, DTF or embroidery is the recommended alternative.
Is Corp-Merch a licensed HTV supplier or officially accredited by any film manufacturer?
We are an independent corporate merch decoration provider in Türkiye. We are not licensed, endorsed or accredited by any garment brand, vinyl film manufacturer or printing-equipment maker.
