DTF print for corporate merch in Türkiye

DTF print is the same Direct-to-Film process covered under the canonical /dtf article, but framed for buyers who search for it under the abbreviation "DTF print". This page summarises what DTF print is, where it wins on a corporate brief, and how a typical DTF print order runs through our Levent studio.

What DTF print means

DTF print is the short form of "Direct-to-Film print", a digital decoration method that prints a design onto a PET film using CMYK plus white inks, applies hot-melt adhesive powder, cures the film in a tunnel dryer, then presses the transfer onto fabric with a heat press. The finished print is soft to the touch, durable through domestic washing, and reproduces full-colour artwork including photographic detail.

The canonical article on this site is at /en/pages/printing/dtf, which covers the technology, the substrates, the durability profile, the run economics and the trade-offs against silkscreen, DTG, CAD-cut and sublimation in detail. This page is the same process under a different name and points back to the canonical article for the substantive read.

We keep this separate URL because corporate buyers search for the technology under both "DTF" and "DTF print" depending on which industry colleague they learned the term from. The production method, the press equipment, the film stock and the adhesive are identical regardless of which name you use to find us.

When DTF print is the right answer for a corporate merch brief

DTF print wins on short runs, full-colour designs, photographic detail and small-order economics. It works on cotton, polyester, blends and dark garments without pre-treatment, and it handles personalised variable-data runs where each piece carries a unique name, number or code.

For a typical corporate apparel program, DTF print is the right answer when the run is below 100 pieces per design, when the design has more than four colours, when the design includes photographic imagery, when the program mixes fabric types, or when the program needs personalised variants. For runs above 100 pieces with 1-4 spot colours, silkscreen is usually more cost-effective.

For premium corporate gifting — VIP jackets, leadership apparel, limited-edition pieces — DTF print with specialty inks (metallic gold, silver, holographic, neon, glow-in-the-dark) produces a high-impact mark without the screen-setup premium of silkscreen. The specialty ink premium is 30-80% per piece and adds 2-3 working days to the lead time.

Substrates and fabric fit

DTF print works on virtually any fabric that can take a heat press at 160°C for 15 seconds. Cotton, poly-cotton, polyester, tri-blends, nylon, softshell, fleece, performance knits, hi-vis polyester, microfibre — all are suitable. The fabric must be dry and clean before pressing; we recommend pre-pressing each garment for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.

DTF print handles light and dark garments without pre-treatment because the white ink layer in the print provides the opacity needed for dark substrates. The same print file serves both light and dark programs, which simplifies the production workflow and reduces the per-piece setup time on mixed-colour programs.

For technical fabrics — hi-vis workwear, flame-retardant apparel, ESD garments — DTF print works but the heat press can affect certain fabric treatments. We test-press every new technical substrate on a sample before committing a production run. For hi-vis, we usually suggest certified reflective transfer films rather than DTF.

Artwork preparation for DTF print

DTF print accepts raster artwork at 300 DPI minimum and vector artwork without conversion. CMYK files print most accurately on our DTF presses; RGB files are converted at the pre-press stage with our standard ICC profile. We accept AI, EPS, PDF, PSD, PNG and TIFF.

The white ink layer is laid down as a base for the CMYK. For designs with no white elements, the white layer can be set to "underlay only" so it provides opacity without showing through the design. For designs with intentional white elements, the white layer is laid down only where the artwork specifies white.

For corporate logos with brand-precise Pantone matching, DTF print reaches Delta-E of 2-3 against a Pantone reference on most substrates. For premium programs with strict colour tolerance, we suggest silkscreen with a white underlay or a custom DTF colour profile. We soft-proof against the supplied reference and produce a hard-copy proof on the production substrate for written approval before the bulk run.

Run sizes, lead times and unit economics

DTF print is most economical on runs of 1-200 pieces per design. Above 200 pieces, silkscreen becomes more cost-effective on simple spot-colour designs, though DTF print remains the right answer for full-colour designs at any run size. The per-piece price decreases meaningfully at the 50-piece, 100-piece and 200-piece thresholds.

Lead time is short: express for in-stock film and simple one-design jobs on customer-supplied garments; 1-2 working days for multi-design jobs; 2-3 working days for premium film or specialty adhesive. Personalised name shirts are our most common DTF print job, with typical batches of 20-100 pieces completed in 1-2 working days.

For corporate buyers pricing out a program, the practical question is volume per design. If you need 500 identical tees, silkscreen wins on cost. If you need 100 tees each with a unique name, DTF print wins on setup cost even though per-piece labour is higher.

Wash durability and care guidance

DTF print survives 50-80 domestic wash cycles before visible dulling. The keys are correct cure temperature (160°C for 15 seconds at medium pressure), even heat distribution, and waiting 24 hours before the first wash. We supply a care card with every order: wash inside out at 30-40°C, line dry, do not iron directly on the print.

For programs that need maximum wash durability — uniform programs, workwear, rental programs — DTF print holds up well but is still behind well-cured silkscreen plastisol (100+ cycles). For programs where softness matters more than durability, DTG wins.

DTF prints are stretchy in one direction and slightly less stretchy in the other (the print is anisotropic). For performance apparel that stretches in multiple directions, DTF print can crack under heavy stretch. We recommend sublimation or screen-printing with stretch additive for these applications.

Where we run DTF print in Türkiye

DTF print production sits in our Levent studio with overflow capacity in Başakşehir for high-volume event-run programs. Film stock is sourced from European suppliers with consistent 7-10 working day replenishment cycles. Hot-melt powder is sourced from German and Turkish manufacturers.

Garment blanks come from the same Bursa, Kahramanmaraş and İzmir mills as our silkscreen apparel programs. For programs that mix DTF print and silkscreen on the same blank type, we consolidate the supply chain at our Tuzla depot to compress the end-to-end lead time.

For corporate programs delivered to İstanbul offices, Ankara government and diplomatic addresses, İzmir trade-show venues, and Antalya resort venues, we run hand-delivery for high-value orders and tracked road freight for larger volumes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for DTF print?

There is no minimum. Single pieces, samples, prototypes and personalised items are routine DTF print work. The method is at its cheapest per piece on runs of 1-200 per design; above 200 pieces silkscreen usually wins on simple spot-colour designs.

How long does a DTF print order take?

Express for in-stock film and simple one-design jobs on customer-supplied garments. 1-2 working days for multi-design jobs. 2-3 working days for premium film or specialty adhesive.

Which fabrics work with DTF print?

Cotton, poly-cotton, polyester, tri-blends, nylon, performance knits, softshell, fleece, hi-vis polyester and most fabrics that can take a heat press at 160°C. We test-press every new technical substrate before committing a production run.

Is DTF print the same as DTF?

Yes — DTF print and DTF are the same Direct-to-Film process. We keep this separate URL because corporate buyers search for the technology under both names depending on which industry colleague they learned the term from.

Can DTF print match a corporate Pantone colour?

DTF print reaches Delta-E of 2-3 against a Pantone reference on most substrates. For strict tolerance, silkscreen with a white underlay or a custom DTF colour profile is suggested.

Is Corp-Merch a licensed DTF printer or officially accredited by any equipment manufacturer?

We are an independent corporate merch decoration provider in Türkiye. We are not licensed, endorsed or accredited by any DTF printer manufacturer, ink supplier or film supplier.
